Nature's Curtain

Dalton Highway, Alaska

Intentional camera movement (ICM) is a photographic technique that I find always fun to experiment with, any place, any time of year, especially in a forest. It transforms traditional photography into abstract artistry by deliberately moving the camera during exposure. Motion is used to create ethereal, soft, painterly images that capture the essence rather than the literal representation of a scene. In this image, vertical streaks and gentle graduations of green, suggests movement and tranquility simultaneously. Photo © copyright by Debbie McCulliss.
