Burrowing Owl

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Colorado

Located just northeast of Denver, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal is a 15,000-acre expanse of prairie, wetland and woodland habitat. Over the years, the land has transitioned from farmland, to war-time manufacturing site, to the wildlife sanctuary that it is today. The site was designated a national wildlife refuge in 1992.
